Ted Brunetti

Producer | Director | Acting Coach | Actor

Ted created the role of “Frankie Coffee Cake” in Broadway Production of A BRONX TALE (co-directed by Robert De Niro, and Jerry Zaks, book by Chazz Palminteri, music by Alan Menken, choreography by Sergio Trujillo, produced by Tribeca Productions, Dodger Theatricals & Tommy Mattola). Ted was Uta Hagen's protégé (over 20 years).

Invited Guest Member of the renowned ACTORS’ STUDIO (LA). Ted is creator and executive producer of a half hour comedy pilot for FOX Broadcasting Network Warner Brothers Discovery and has several other projects currently in development, and is an award winning coach/teacher.

Ted serves as Faculty, Guest Faculty, Coach & Director at the premiere Directing and Acting Programs and Institutions across the U.S. and an on-going guest artist for Australia’s renowned Actors Center of Australia: patron Hugh Jackman.

Brunetti assisted many years at ABC Primetime Casting in NYC under Alexa Fogel, Bob Huber, & Marci Phillips. Ted directed the Ovation Award Nominated production of THE BOYS NEXT DOOR (LA). He’s directed several productions for "The Company" at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts (LA).

As a coach and assistant, Ted has had the honor of working with: George C. Scott & Jack Lemmon prepping them for the remake of INHERIT THE WIND – Emmy Award for Best Actor to Jack Lemmon; James Gandolfini for his last five feature films, and HBO’s “THE NIGHT OF”; Mark Feuerstein (for the leading role in ROYAL PAINS - nine Seasons on USA Network); Drew Carey (shadow directed last two seasons of THE DREW CAREY SHOW under Bob Koherr); Wanda Sykes (WANDA AT LARGE); HANNA MONTANA; Mike Epps; Nichole Tom (THE NANNY, MASTERS OF SEX, MINOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, many feature films); Tyra Banks; Mya; Bob Koherr; Valarie Pettiford – THE FAMILY BUSINESS, A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES, VACATION FAMILY, THE BAXTERS, BLACK EXCELLENCE, VALOR, BEING MARYJANE, GOLDEN BOY, THE BLACKLIST, BLACK-ISH, TREME, TRUE BLOOD, BORN AGAIN VIRGIN, JUMPING THE BROOM, many other television shows and feature films. Ted has coached many other renowned actors, athletes, & musicians.  Brunetti works with the major networks, studios, casting directors, agents and managers, preparing and taping clients for auditions, as well as coaching on-set and on-location and virtually. He coached many actors for leading roles in current television, film, theatre, and “new media” projects.

As an actor, Ted has worked on projects with: Uta Hagen, Jerry Zaks, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Whoopi Goldberg, Dan Petrie Sr., Donald Petrie, Rob Marshall, Diane Paulus, Mark Brokaw, Nicholas Martin, Graciela Daniele, Steven Sondheim, Flaherty & Ahrens, Pat Birch, Paul Gemignani, Keith Lockhart, (and many others) including productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway’s Playwrights Horizons, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, B.A.M., The O’Neil Center, The Ohio Theatre in NYC, Hartford Stage, The Pittsburgh Public, H.B. Playwright’s Theatre (appeared with Uta Hagen in the first Herbert Berghoff Tribute in A REPORT TO THE ACADEMY), Bucks County, Falmouth, & Pocono Playhouses, Dorsett Theatre Festival, Westbank Theater Center, Riverwest Theater , etc. He was an in the original production of FALSETTOS sharing the role of Marvin directed by Graciela Danielle, he was a cover in the original production of Stephen Sondheim’s ASSASSINS, originated the role of Pasqual in AVENUE X Off-Broadway at Playwright’s Horizons, played Pippin in PIPPIN five times. First dramatic feature film role was in Al Pacino’s TWO BITS, first comedy role was in THE ASSOCIATE with Whoopi Goldberg and Diane Wiest, leading role Joey Connor in CROSSINGS.  He performed in the Oscar and Golden Globe Nominated animated feature ANASTASIA and its prequel BARTOK THE MAGNIFICENT.  

In addition to Uta Hagen, Ted also studied with: Mike Nichols; Austin Pendleton; Horton Foote; Stiller & Meara; Francis Sternhagen; Elizabeth Wilson; F. Murray Abraham. Ted holds a BFA from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts; and is an Invited Member of The Actor’s Studio.

Ted is recipient of National Endowment for the Arts Achievement in the Arts Award. He was finalist in three Backstage Magazine Readers Choice Awards 2016 & 2014 including: Best L.A. Acting School/Coaches, Best L.A. Audition Technique Teacher, Best L.A. On-Camera Teachers as well as runner up Favorite L.A. Acting Coach & L.A. Favorite Teacher 2008 & 2010.

Ted is writing a book, based on his seminar, NEVER AUDITION (“Prepare to WORK, not audition!”) release date TBA.
